SURFACE TESTING

Falls and accidents are unfortunately unavoidable when it comes to children and play. We provide surface testing to ensure children are as safe as possible. Under Australian Playground Standards all softfall is to be certified and rubber tested on a regular occurrence. If you need advice on your existing surfaces then please contact us.

We surface test using the TRIAX 2015 system.

Triax 2015 will test wet pour rubber surfaces, synthetic or real grass, organic loose fill (sand, woodchips) and other sports surfaces. Our inspector has been professionally trained and assessed by certified international Triax2015 trainer Rolf Huber in Candada.

Triax2015 is a highly sophisticated portable free-fall playground surface testing system. It meets the relevant Australia and International standards to determine the performance of surface in prevention of life threatening and debilitating head injuries.

  • The test surface is struck by the Triax Head Form in a defined series of impacts from different fall heights.
  • The signal recorded during each impact is processed to yield a level of severity from the measured impact energy.
  • The Head Injury Criteria (HIC), HIC Duration, and G-max values of each impact, are plotted and the critical fall height is calculated.

Under the Australian Standards  all softfall is to be certified and rubber is tested at installation and every three years thereafter – AS4685:2022, AS 4685.0:2017 and AS 4422:2016.
